Energy Innovation Center

Rutland, Vermont –
The Energy Innovation Center project was the renovation of two Downtown Rutland buildings for Green Mountain Power for them to showcase energy efficient technologies that could be applied in homes and businesses. This project is certified LEED Gold for the major renovation project, which is fairly difficult to attain in the tight, downtown location. Several different types of mechanical systems were designed for the different areas of the building including air to air heat pumps and bio-fuel boiler (vegetable oil).

Portions of the electrical system were designed to operate low-voltage (24 Volts), including the lighting in the main portion of the building. Several types of solar photo-voltaic systems were installed on the roof deck and fed power to inverters and a battery bank in the basement. Engineering Services of Vermont was proud to be part of the Design Team led by NBF Architects guided by the vision of the building owner, Green Mountain Power.
