Claus' recent experience includes management of the workload, personnel and quality control within the Electrical Department for a large engineering firm as well as project management and project production. The management position required him to be up to speed with industry trends, new methods and materials as they become available and keep up to date with code and regulatory changes. Claus was also responsible for electrical engineering including power engineering, lighting design and design of life safety systems (egress lighting, fire alarm) as the project requires. In addition to design, Claus has also performed studies that include feasibility reports and electrical systems studies consisting of short circuit studies, arc flash evaluation studies, over-current protective device coordination studies. The arc flash study work often times requires him to assist the client in development of a facility Electrical Safety Program, develop training programs as well as perform presentation of the training.

He hopes to earn his EIT in the spring of 2012 and to eventually become a profesional mechanical engineer. His skills include preparing lighting calculations using the latest design softwares, drafting complex construction documents using CADD software, reviewing and preparing electrical specifications, and preparing engineering reports. Chris' abilities make him extremely effective is all stages of the project from preliminary conceptual design, to on-site construction support. In addition to Chris' electrical expertise he has also provided drafting/design support for other disciplines such as civil and mechanical projects.
